Josh Hamner Has a Tough Break in the 42nd Annual Snowball Derby
Parts Failure Leads to 29th-Place Finish
Josh Hamner had positioned himself all season long for the final laps of the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida - the most prestigious Asphalt Super Late Model event in the county.  But a mechanical failure beyond his control took him out of the race early and left him credited with a finish of 29th.

“We came in and got our second set (of tires) to get ready for the little 50-lap shootout there and something happened,” said Hamner.  “I think it's a spur gear that actually broke this year. It's a typical Snowball Derby for me.  Out of seven Derbies I've never wrecked out of one. When I finish, I finish in the top ten. Two I've managed to finish and the others I've broke something.  This is the only race that I break something at.  It's the Derby, like Christmas time it comes every year. I'll be back next year.”

The Snowball Derby concludes Hamner's 2009 racing season.
