Hamner Gains Leaps And Bounds Form Gulf Coast Weekend
Pair of Top Fives Aids Effort with Kyle Busch Motorsports
Josh Hamner knew the pressure of driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports was going to be different than running his family owned Super Late Model.   It took a few races for him to get the learning curve down with his new team, but at the last Blizzard Series race at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida they hit on something and now have a ton of momentum for their next event.  Hamner finished second at Five Flags Speedway and then took a fourth-place finish on the next night at Mobile.

“We made some changes and things are really working out now,” said Hamner.  “You just don’t go down there and luck into beat Augie Grill or any of the other drivers.  We really had a good night at Five Flags and we were good at Mobile as well.”

Hamner led the opening laps in the Miller Lite 100 at Five Flags.  He lost the lead to eventual race winner Augie Grill and then hung in his tire tracks as long as he could. Even with a halfway adjustment, they managed to gain on, but not catch, Grill for the victory.

“Second means a lot to us because we were there all night,” added Hamner.  “I know what it feels like to have that car that feels unbeatable and we are working hard to getting back to that form.”

The next night at Mobile, Hamner was in line to finish on the podium, but it was his teammate who was in front of him in the closing laps.

‘We could have pressed the issue for third, but it was our teammate TJ (Reaid) who was in front of us,” added Hamner.  “All in all it was a good weekend for us and we came along way in two races.”

Hamner will be back in action on Saturday, August 21st at the Show Me The Money event at Montgomery Motor Speedway (AL).
