May 8, 2006 - Hey guys, thanks for checking out my new website. I hope you’ve had a chance to take a look around and you like what you see. Things have been going pretty well for me, but as I’m sure you’ve been able to see, the year has started off pretty rough. The team and I have had some really bad luck but we’re going to keep on digging and we’ll get the kind of results we deserve as we go on this season.
At Pensacola during the first BLizzard race, I thought we were set up to have a really good run until an electrical problem caused us to pull in the pits early. I know that we’ll be able to put all of this behind us and focus on the future.
We had a rather interesting eighth-place run at Greenville (SC) in the NASCAR Southeast Series opener. This year I'm running for Rookie of the Year and the Southeast Series championship. Being able to pull that off will this year is going to be the biggest challenge of my career but I’m looking forward to it.
The run at Greenville was a learning experience for me and the team. I qualified sixth and after the inversion of the first few qualifiers I started fifth. It only took a few laps to get all the way up to second where I settled in behind JR Norris. Forty laps into the race I got turned around in between the first and second turns and had to go to the rear of the field. For the rest of the race I just had to avoid all the wrecks and typical hard Greenville short track racing and I managed to come home with an eighth place finish.
My next stop will be in Pensacola, FL for my very first ASA Late Model Southern Series start on May 13. I’m looking forward to that race as well as the next Southeast Series race in South Boston, VA on May 27. So stay posted on joshhamner.com for the results and the stories from the track. I’ll keep you all informed of what’s going on with me and the team here on the site, as well.
Thanks for reading everyone. Until next time.
